The 2 1/4 inch plastic scalloped air knob is pushed onto the stem of the air control cartridge (part
number 8399000 shown below). With time, the knob may become "seized" to the cartridge, in which
case the stem will break off when you try to remove the knob. The cartridge is easily replaceable -
just pop out the serrated metal ring, pull out the old one, push in a new one (lubricate if
possible), and gently push the metal ring back in before pushing on the new air
knob. CAUTION: DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE SQUARE PLASTIC FLANGE - it is glued into the plumbing under the bath! |
